I don’t believe you need five reasons to not miss the Cinque Terre as just one would do the trick! However, travellers are spoilt with five beautiful villages, hence the five reasons (I know a little bit cheeky!), perched along the Italian Riviera, to search out and explore. So when it comes to planning a trip to the Cinque Terre (and you must!) don’t over research it or stress about missing out on something as you can’t go wrong. Here are my basic tips and photos of each of the five villages.
Which village to stay in: I recommend Riomaggiore or Manorola
How long to stay: 2-3 nights
Things to do:
- Hike the five villages or train to each of the villages or a mixture of both (You need to purchase a pass to hike and train the villages which you can do at the different check points)
- Watch a sunset in Riomaggiore and Maranola.
- Swim in the small harbour of Manarola and at one of the beaches in Monterosso.
- Eat focaccia, pizza, pasta, calamari, gelato
- Drink Limoncello Spritz
So there’s five reasons not to miss a visit to the Cinque Terre in Italy – five charming little villages perched along the Italian Riviera!
