Ever had one of those experiences that was so incredible it’s difficult to describe to your friends and family? Visiting South Tyrol is one of those.
This Northern region of Italy is a combination of both Austrian and Italian culture, and I’m convinced it’s got to be the best European winter holiday that can be had! The combination of cuisine, adventure, scenery and relaxation is going to stick in our minds for years to come. Here’s the highlights.
Alpin Panorama Hotel Hubertus is everything you could want in a hotel! Not only does it boast large rooms with spectacular views, it’s also got a superb restaurant and wine list, making it the perfect location to relax in after a day full of snow adventures. Lastly, the infinity Sky pool is literally unbelievable!
Alta Badia Ski Resort
Surrounded by the UNESCO World Heritage listed Dolomites, Alta Badia provides ‘wow’ moments at every turn. If skiing with the dramatic Dolomites as your backdrop isn’t enough of a drawcard, mountain huts also provide delicious delicacies from South Tyrol.
If that’s not enough, then make sure you attend Sommelier on the Slopes! This is a unique experience, where you ski around the resort with a Sommelier, tasting local wines from South Tyrol.
To top it all off, one of the resort owners was happy to transport us back down the mountain on a snowmobile – another bucket list item ticked off!
Kronplatz and Messner Mountain Museum
Perched atop Kronplatz summit (2,275m above sea level) lies the Messner Mountain Museum. Designed by architect Zaha Hadid, it is a celebration of mountaineering over the last 250 years.
Whilst Phoebe explored the museum, it was time for me to get half a day more skiing in before eating (yet another) delicious meal.
From here, it was time to head back to the hotel, and enjoy the Infinity Sky Pool one more time! Then some sauna time (no photos taken here).
If you’re looking for a European luxury Winter holiday – South Tyrol is absolutely worthy of your time, and we cannot recommend it enough!
