“A sort of national property in which every man has a right and interest who has an eye to perceive and a heart to enjoy”. – William Wordsworth
The Lake District is a special place. It may not be the most spectacular destination we have travelled to compared to to the likes of Santorini or Saas Fee but it makes you feel.
All the good feels.
If you’re in the UK and you have a weekend free, make the trip and get away. You won’t regret it.
Our scheming to visit the Lake District began with an offer we couldn’t refuse. Avis asked Chris if he wanted to borrow a Jaguar F-Type for the weekend and drive it along one of the best driving roads in the world – the road from Kendall to Keswick. Needless to say we jumped at the opportunity and set off excitedly and some what cautiously in this £50,000 car that had been entrusted to us.
So we drove and drove, ran about in the rain and wind like kids, had our hearts warmed by cute sheep and then drove some more. Enough of the words, here’s our Lake District captures. Enjoy!
And that’s our brief damp escape to the Lake District! For more info about the Avis Best Road Campaign check out avisbestroad.com.
P.S. Our trusty GPS took us home on a delightful detour through the Yorkshire Dales which included a stop at the highest pub in Britain – Tan Hill Inn and more sheep swooning.
