Today, you are going to literally make thousands of decisions.
Like Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken, we often see our decisions as an either/or scenario. For example; Would you like chicken or beef? Do you want to go to the movies or go to the beach? More serious questions can be seen as a choice between either one or the other… do you want to pursue a career or start a family? Do you want safety or adventure? Do you want to work or travel?
Here’s the thing: life is not always full of either / or decisions, sometimes it’s both / and.
Sometimes… you can have both.
You don’t have to choose either travel or a career, you can choose both travel and a career. This for me is so exciting, because right now, at this stage of my life, both of these things are really important to me. I don’t want to choose one or the other, so I am choosing both.
You don’t have to choose either adventure or financial stability, you can choose both adventure and financial stability. Over the last four years, Phoebe and I have made some simple financial decisions to set ourselves up for success; we sold our house and bought a smaller apartment, reducing debt. We went from two cars to one, and steered clear from credit cards. As uninspiring as some of these decisions sound, it means we’re in a good space financially, and also prepared for our adventure.
Today, you’re going to make thousands of decisions. If you can change the way you see decisions, you might just make different choices and get more than you ever expected.
Whatever decision you’re facing, maybe, just maybe, you don’t have to choose either or, you can have both and.
