If you’re looking for somewhere to relax and be inspired at the same time, you should spend some time in Santorini. This place clears your mind and fills your soul simultaneously.
The first thing we noticed on arrival was the sheer height of the island. After being herded like cattle off the ferry in a scene that resembled The Hunger Games, our bus began to climb a windy road. It kept climbing, and climbing, and climbing. Everything is so high up in Santorini that we just had this constant sense of awe as we walked around the towns.
Here’s the highlights
The hero of our stay here was definitely our hotel. We stayed at Ellinon Thea, and we had our own private jacuzzi overlooking the Caldera. Whilst more expensive than our other accommodation, it was still pretty reasonable. To date, it’s one of the coolest memories we’ve shared on holiday.
Another honourable mention is the walk from Firastefani to Oia, then down to Amoudi bay to swim and jump off a cliff.
We’d definitely recommend hiring an ATV for a day whilst in Santorini. It enables you to see so much more of the island, and get around without any hassle.
Gyros. Food from heaven.
Lastly, a trip to Santorini wouldn’t be complete without seeing the sunset from Oia Castle – it’s said to be one of the world’s best sunsets, and for good reason.
Okay, now photos!
